Parenting Education Program

Program Objectives

The Parenting Education Program is for parents who have been mandated by a Family Court Judge in the 13th Judicial Circuit to participate in an educational program that concerns itself with issues that occur as a result of divorce or estrangement with regard to the children in that family.

This program is designed to aid children and their parents in dealing with issues that result from divorce and estrangement. Such issues will include the concept of divorce, living in separate households, visitation, how to discuss divorce with your child, discussion of finances in front of your children and maintaining a positive parenting environment.

Program Format

The program consists of one 4 hour session. The "For Your Children" Program is an educational program; it is NOT a counseling program. It is a combination of lecture, videotaped programming, and some group discussion about a variety of topics related to the care of children.

Program Costs

The fee for the "Parenting Education Program" ranges in price based on the program chosen, but averages $50 - $60 per person. It is the responsibility of the participants to register for the class. This can be done by contacting any of the program providers for further information. In most cases, payment is required prior to the beginning of the program.

Upon completion of the four hour program a certificate of completion will be issued to the participant. This will serve as proof of successful completion of the program. The participant is responsible to present the certificate to the court with regard to the court proceedings.
