Description
The Civil Division is responsible for many cases filed with the Circuit Clerk's Office in LaSalle County. This division collects and disburses payments for various types of civil fees. There is a public viewing terminal located in Room 201. This public viewing terminal allows access to the Circuit Clerk's database and document imaging system. The Circuit Clerk provides court clerks for all Civil Division courtrooms which are located in the Downtown Courthouse. Below is a list of the case types that the Civil Division is responsible for as well as the general functions of this division. Each case type link contains a listing provided by the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts that is intended to illustrate the kinds of actions that are to filed under the various categories.

New Litigation
The Civil Division accepts all new lawsuits that are to be filed in LaSalle County. Once a case has been filed, the clerks are responsible for a number of processes involved in each case:

Answering all telephone inquiries regarding specific cases

Issuing summonses and subpoenas in all on-going cases

Issuing post-judgment garnishments

Filing and recording documents for all cases from beginning to end
